Heaven Can Wait Ottawa Valley Cat Rescue

Heaven Can Wait Cat Rescue grew out of a need to help find homes for kittens and cats in the Carleton Place, Almonte area. Currently we are helping to find homes for cats and kittens from the local shelter (Travelling Paws) in the area. We may just know where to get you that new family member!

WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF FOSTER HOMES. IF YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP PLEASE CONTACT A VOLUNTEER.

 CATS UP FOR ADOPTION:

“A Tale of Two Kitties”

Poor hungry kitty, there is no food for kitty. Can we help? Of course, kitty! Debbie’s here, Scott and Bobbi’s here, the team from Heaven Can Wait are here. Fear no more. A home will be found. The people from Carleton Place and around will open their hearts and their doors to a kitty in need. Your happiness is assured; you will go hungry no more!

This is the tale of Dickens, a lovely black and white male kitten of around a year. We came to hear of Dickens from a lady that found him lost and alone and very hungry. She felt sorry for Dickens but could not keep him. Even so, she did not want anything bad to happen to Dickens so she made arrangements for him to go to the shelter while he awaited coming into rescue. This kind hearted benefactor also paid for his neuter. Dickens is the loveliest cat you’d care to meet. He adores people and will rub his face against your chin to show his gratitude. He is forever grateful for the care he gets and rewards you with adoring purrs. If you can meet this little orphaned kitties ‘great expectations’ he will return your love a thousand fold.

Jacob is a very cute solid black cat, very adventurous, and very cuddly. He loves being petted and loves attention. He will do almost anything he can for attention. He definitely always knows what he wants, from just walking around and exploring, to getting all the attention possible. He is very active. He should get a nice big home so he gets lots of space to run around and explore in and also have lost of nice caring people around who would love to play and pet him. He will always love anyone who treats him nicely and will pet him. **GONE TO A FOSTER HOME.

Garfield Needs a Purr’sonal Trainer -gone to a foster home

If you drop in to meet this beautiful orange kitty you will understand immediately why I renamed him from Reggie to Garfield. They just have so much in common. For example, Garfield loves lasagna; Reggie loves lasagna. Garfield likes dogs named Odie; so does Reggie. Garfield may torment dogs named Odie, as does Reggie. Garfield is the epitome of lazy, Reggie never lifts a finger. They both spend hours figuring out how to train their owner. Reggie was rescued off the streets not too long ago and is waiting for just the right person with the right lazyboy to give him a home.  He’d like to spend twenty hours sleeping and the other four on a lazyboy watching television. Obviously, he would have multiple meals in between television shows and naptime. He loves being cuddled and can spend hours in your arms just gazing up at you. Life is not too complicated for this little fellow. If you think you’d enjoy having a lapcat please come meet this adorable cat. He is neutered, de-wormed and up to date on all his vaccinations. (Photo of Reggie below)

Right now we have three lovely kitties up for adoption. First we have a gorgeous black neutered male cat. He is probably around 2 years old.  Next up, we have a gentle little grey and white female kitten of around 6 months old. All of these cats are looking for a foster or a permanent home.

ADOPTED: Next we have a beautiful declawed calico female of around 2 years. We have named this lovely girl Cassie. Cassie was found wandering in Perth with a green collar. She was emaciated and had very frostbitten ears. She is recovering nicely and is looking for a foster or a permanent home.

Meet Melvin **ADOPTED

This handsome fellow has been living at the shelter for five whole months!!! We think he was quite depressed at first but he has quickly adjusted to his new surroundings. He is now living at 61 Bridge Street where you can come meet him. He is becoming a talkative kitty and will rub up for pets or meow in greeting. He just loves visitors and is such an easy-going laid back male cat of around two to three years old. He would get along fine with dogs or other cats. We will be getting Melvin neutered pre-adoption. Come meet him, as you are not likely to meet another as calm and gentle as our dear Melvin.

Meet Midget McGee! **ADOPTED

Lynn named this little guy McGee and I named him midget so he became Midget McGee. He is a fun-loving, super-affectionate little fellow who just loves life. We don't know what happened to this little guy but he was picked up by animal bylaw early February and was very, very skinny. He is now gaining lots of weight and has charmed everyone including his foster mommy. He is black and white and has an extra digit so he has huge paws. We think he is 3-4 months old.

Meet Josee and Putty! **ADOPTED

Two new female kittens age 5-6 months are residing at Natural Pet Foods at 61 Bridge Street where they can be met. One is a black and white long-hair that is content to take it easy and the other is a spunky little short-hair tabby.

Meet Mickey - **ADOPTED

Mickey is a smoky grey long hair fellow who is anxiously awaiting his new home! He has gorgeous green eyes, is about 3 yrs old and is a declawed and neutered male. He is looking for a home where he can be the only cat in the house as he is the jealous type:-)

If you are interested in Mickey please call Hana at 613-253-7387 or 613-256-8833

A Big Hug and Purr

A big thank you goes out to everyone in the community that has been donating food for the shelter and all five families that adopted kittens from our program the last month. The community has been very supportive and all the kittens are doing well in their new homes.

 "Kisses For Cats"

Lynn and Debbie have kindly organized this month’s fundraising campaign called “Kisses for Cats”. Packages of Hershey’s kisses will be available for sale at the local veterinary clinics, pet shops, bank and more for a $1 donation to help feed the shelter cats. It’s a sweet way to help out cats!

Meet Splash! - ADOPTED

Next up is Splash, a male black and white cat of around 3 yrs. Splash was living on the streets of Ottawa until just before the big snowfall when a very kind lady took him in. Christine has paid for his shots, health check and neuter. He then spent a month with me and I was able to observe his cat-tonality. He is very friendly and loves pets. The thing is, you can't move too quickly or he gets scared. He would be a wonderful addition to a home with other cats. If you want to meet Splash please give me a ring at 613-256-8833. Mom and her Kittens

Remember that -25 weather we had not so long ago?

Well... this beautiful black cat was rescued out of the cold by a caring individual and spent her first few nights in warmth at Natural Pet Foods. "Mom" (black cat around 1) is now nursing her 5 kittens that were born on the same evening she came to stay at Cat's Paradise - at the main house. "Mom" had 3 full black kittens and 2 grey kittens. They were born Saturday March 4th, 2006. These beautiful felines found a wonderful home with true animal lovers in Galetta.
