for a Pawsitive Experience in Becoming a Good Family Pet with Obedience Skills

New Dog Training with Sharlene Manderson at Natural Pet Foods in Carleton Place. Sharlene is a retired education specialist, an experienced dog trainer,  and she also competes her own dogs in obedience, rally 'o and agility. Sharlene is a people person that loves to work with both people and pets!

Currently, we are offering Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.

Competitive Obedience available upon request.

Pre-registration is necessary. Payment may be made by debit, cash, visa or mastercard at the shop.

 

Bring Your Dog to School

For a Pawsitive Experience In

Becoming a good family pet with obedience skills

6 Week Session for Puppy Class - $95

(3-5 months of age, 2nd immunization required)

  • good manners – nipping, chewing, jumping up, food bowl issues, appropriate toys
  • socialization & play with other puppies and people
  • building strong positive relationship between dog and handler
  • introduction to basic commands – sit, down, stand, stay and come
  • walking on lead
  • hand-outs provided at the end of each class

8 Week Session for Beginner Class - $120

(6 months or older…adult dogs welcomed)

  • review/introduction to good manners if required
  • basic obedience commands – sit, down, stand, stay, come
  • walking on loose lead
  • introduction to formal heeling
  • working in the presence of other dogs and focusing on handler
  • games to stimulate and encourage your dog
  • hand-outs provided at the end of each class

8 Week Session for Advanced Class - $120

(Dogs who have finished beginner level)

  • more precision in executing the basic commands
  • doing the basic commands with more distractions
  • stronger focus on handler with more distractions
  • working on group exercises
  • introduction to Rally-O moves, Canine Good Citizenship requirements
  • hand-outs provided at the end of each class

"Love Your Pet!" Was a Great Success!

Over 70 pet owners came out Saturday morning to hear Ottawa's Holistic Vet Dr. Beltran (Blair Animal Hospital) talk about how to keep your pet healthy. This was followed up by a talk on pet nutrition and proper diet with Catherine Lane the canine nutritionist. The event raised funds for "Don't Litter, Spay and Neuter" program as well as Brock - the rescue Border Collie needing hip surgery. Local businesses donated to the raffle table to help raise funds including:

  • Forever Friends donated a set of canine lessons
  • Chilly Dogs donated a whippet and a regular chilly dog sweater
  • Pampered Pups Pastries donated a basket of canine treats
  • The Pawstry Chef donated samples for all the loot bags
  • Magic 100 donated four DVD's
  • Donna of Kobedog Pals donated a book on Dogs
  • Your Best Friends Distributing donated Kibble Booster
  • Ecosens Distributing donated Buddy Biscuits and other goodies
  • Companion Dog Xpress donated Innova, EVO and California Natural Cat Food

The "Love Your Pet" Seminar with Dr. Eddie Beltran (Holistic Vet from Blair Animal Hospital) & Catherine Lane (Canine Nutritionist) was a great success! $500 was raised for Country Cat rescue and $200 for Brock's Hip Surgery.
